Tremont is the birthplace & childhood home of the First Lady of Country Music Tammy Wynette!

Nestled in the most northeastern corner of Itawamba County our area is bountiful with rich history. Tourist can enjoy the Tammy Wynette Legacy Center filled with her memorabilia from her life as well as her musical legacy. From her albums, to gowns, to the gates of her home, visitors will find themselves enthralled in life of the first female country music artist to sell one million albums! While visiting Tremont, stop by the historic Oakland Normal Institute, see the Vernon Presley Marker, and have a drink of cool artesian water at Molly Harman Springs. TAMMY WYNETTE LEGACY CENTER has a 400 seat theater and host musical events on weekends. In addition, they host two annual events each year. The first weekend in May the TWLC celebrates Wynette's birthday with a golf tournament, live music, and vendors. In September they host their "Stand By Your Man Labor Day Celebration" with live music, a car show, and vendors. Kelly's Kitchen, the Center's on-site restaurant is open for the event.
